5 of our Favorite Summertime Activities

It’s finally summer and getting warm out, ayooo! Not going to lie, it’s been a heck of a month and a half-ish. In my last post I mentioned that I had been sick but it never really went away. I ended up at urgent care 3 times in May – twice to get some medicine to help how I was feeling and once because I had an allergic reaction to one of the medications. After finally feeling some relief and getting better from what ended up being pneumonia, we were hit with the vid. Luckily, Boston hasn’t tested positive but both Anthony and I did so we’ve all just been hanging at home.

Other than that, I’ve been feeling a lot of excitement for this summer! Boston is at such a fun age that I can ask him what he would like to do and he will tell me or we can go to one of our favorite spots. Most of them you’ve probably heard of but if not, here are 5 of our favorite places around the Grand Rapids area that we visit.

  1. John Ball Zoo – We LOVE the zoo! We have a membership so that makes it easy to either stay and explore for a couple of hours or to just walk around for an hour just for fun without feeling guilty for paying for a day pass.
  2. Cascade Township Park – One of our favorite parks because it has a nice playground, sandbox, basketball courts, a paved trail and its close to the airport so we see at least 5 planes each time we’re there.
  3. GRR Airport Viewing Park – Speaking of watching the planes…our favorite breakfast/lunch spot. We love to grab food and have a picnic here as we watch the planes take off and land. (See pic above of us there last week and Boston sitting just like his Papá)
  4. Millennium Park – This park has it all. They have a beach area, splash pad, playgrounds, and a nice walking path. Definitely somewhere you could go and spend the entire day exploring.
  5. Grand Rapids Township Park – Just another one of our favorite parks. They have sections that are good for younger kids and then a section for older kids, as well. It also had some nice upgrades done last summer.

I hope this was helpful! I am hoping to try some new places around the area so if you know of any, leave a comment below so we can check them out 🙂

Happy Summer!!

  1. Yay, we’ll have to try some of those! Rosewood park in Hudsonville is great with a splash pad area, and Ed dunnebak farm (sp) near walker is really fun too ♥️
