Hi!! It’s been a few months but I just needed a minute to refocus/reassess what I wanted to do with this blog. This year (as you all know) has been tough, weird, heavy, all of the things. I’ve been struggling to find the motivation to do much. Normally, I can find a rhythm or routine but right now, it’s just not there. I’ll talk more on that later.
Anyways, let’s catch up!
Since my last post, Boston turned 1 (!!!!) in October and we had our immediate family over in our backyard to celebrate with us. It was the first time we’ve seen some family since this started so that was nice but we still made sure to socially distance and wear masks. The theme was “One DMC” and he looked adorable in his Adidas tracksuit and Kangol hat! I’ll share some more pictures from that in an upcoming blog post.
Along with officially being a toddler, about a month ago Boston started walking and it is so much fun!! He skipped actually crawling and was doing this adorable little butt scoot everywhere. A lot of people told us we would dread the moving stages but honestly every stage we have experienced with Boston has been fun. It’s so cute when I can say “Okay, let’s go change your diaper” or “Time to go to bed” and he can just walk beside me instead of me having to carry him. And if we’re being honest…my arms were getting a little tired from having to carry him around everywhere, haha.
I also had a birthday! I turned 29 in November and that was probably my favorite birthday ever! Anthony did everything he could to make sure I still had a special day and it really was. He made me breakfast and during breakfast he had me open up my present which was a new camera!! I couldn’t wait to use it so we went to a park and tested it out. After taking pictures, we ordered lunch, and hung out at home for the rest of the day. Once we were home, I was getting texts from friends/family who stopped by and left gifts on the porch for me which brought me to tears. It was such a nice day and I don’t have a ton of pictures to share from the day but here are a couple of pictures we took on our park adventure 🙂
Let’s see…what else?
The holidays looked a little different but not so bad! For Halloween, we dressed up at home as Alvin and the Chipmunks. Anthony made a FEAST for the 3 of us for Thanksgiving. When I say feast, I mean it. We had steak, broccoli cheddar casserole, rolls, stuffing, mac n cheese, veggies, sweet potato casserole, hard boiled eggs, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and some Thanksgiving themed cookies we bought from Baked With Butter (scroll down to see how cute they are!) But needless to say, we were eating leftovers for days after…
Christmas was the same as the other holidays. We spent the whole day just us 3 and it was a really nice change for me. I’ve grown up going to anywhere from 4-7 places on Christmas which can be EXHAUSTING. It’s always nice to see everyone but sometimes it made the day hard to enjoy because there’s so much running around to do. So for us to be able to relax in our matching pj’s all day, FaceTime family, and play with Boston’s new toys all day was really nice.
At the beginning of this post, I mentioned not being able to find a rhythm. I have found that I have been feeling more emotionally and mentally exhausted much more frequently. So I am learning to communicate to Anthony when I need help or just need some time to myself. I use that time to nap or just to get my thoughts in order. I remind myself to take this one day at a time and to do what I can and not put any extra pressure on myself to get a lot done which has helped a lot.
I think being back here will be a huge boost in my life. I really missed it! I hope you all enjoy this last week of 2020 and I wish you well however you decide to enter into the New Year. Whether it be looking for a fresh start or just no pressure, do-what-you-can attitude 🙂
