Recent Reads, Potty Training, Life Lately

I’m currently writing this as I watch/judge the celebrities’ looks as they arrive to the Met Gala while I sit on my couch in sweatpants and an old sweatshirt…but I love it. I have a friend that is just as invested in seeing the looks as me so we just text and send Instagram messages back and forth talking about the hits and misses. It’s one of my favorite pastimes 😉

But anyways, I’ve read more books the past 3 weeks than I read all year last year. When it comes to reading, it kind of comes in phases, I read a lot or I don’t read at all but I’m trying to break that and be more consistent. Anyone else do that? So in my free time the past three weeks instead of scrolling or watching tv, I made myself read at least a couple of chapters but most times I ended up reading more because the book sucked me in and I would end up reading all night.

The first book I read was, “It Ends With Us” by Colleen Hoover and I REALLY liked this one. It does have romance but it’s not your regular romance. It definitely pulls on your heartstrings and it can be a little hard to read at moments because of the topic it covers but all in all, one of my faves. Oh and there’s a sequel coming out in October!

I loooove a good cute easy-read romance book and the next two books were just that. They were by the same author, Emily Henry. I started with “People We Meet On Vacation” and that one was good but if I had to pick a favorite, it’d be the second one, “Beach Read“. I read this book in literally 3 days which says a lot for me and a 300 page book – it definitely was one that I felt excited to read anytime I had a chance to. Emily Henry has another book coming out tomorrow actually, “Book Lovers” and I will be heading straight to the book store to pick it up so I’ll keep you posted on my thoughts on that one.

Besides reading, we really started focusing on potty training with Boston. He’s been going randomly on the potty for a while now but about a week and a half ago, I told him that there were no more diapers left so he’s in undies full time. The first weekend was what you expect, accidents and sprinting to the bathroom but he’s been doing great and it’s getting a little less chaotic.

But there is something to be said about being sick and potty training a toddler…oh my goshhhh. Last week I was super sick so while I was home from work wanting to sleep forever, we were running to the bathroom every hour instead. OOF! Luckily, he didn’t get sick because I think that would’ve made it harder for the both of us. And honestly, telling him the diapers were all gone a few days that before really helped keep me accountable and not just throw a diaper on him because it would’ve been easier. I’m no potty training expert and have no idea if that’s what people do but Boston has been repeating “The diapers are all gone” all week so it’s worked out great for us.

Other than that, it’s been a pretty chill few weeks and I’m hoping the rest of the month is smooth sailing 🙂 I hope you are having a great start to a new month!
